St Andrews Golf Club
The Home of Golf
The Old Course at St Andrews Golf Club is the oldest and
most famous
golf course in the world. It was here that the first golf ball was
struck 600 years ago!
This is where golf was founded, hence 'The Home Of
Golf'. Since then
the famous St Andrews Golf Club has hosted umpteen major events
including The Dunhill Links Championship, The Ricoh Women's British
Open and of course the biggest of them all, The Open Championship.

Club House The Old
Course
In
fact St Andrews Golf Club has hosted The Open 27 times! And is also
scheduled to host it again in 2010. An interesting fact is that The Old
Course at St Andrews is only open for play on the final Sunday of these
championships! Other than that the course turns into a park for local
people to stroll, and take in the breathtaking scenery.
The Old
Course is a tough St Andrews Links course, with huge double greens.
Seven greens are shared with other holes with only 1st, 9th, 17th
&
18th holes having their own greens.
St Andrews is most famously
known for it's notorious bunkers like 'Hell Bunker' on the par 5 14th
hole where in 1995 Jack Nicklaus took 5 shots to get out on the way to
a 10!

Road Hole Bunker 17th
Like
wise the infamous 'Road Hole' bunker on the par 4 17th where in 1978
Tommy Nakajima took 4 to get out which ultimately cost him the
Championship.
The Old Course at St Andrews Golf Club is steeped
in tradition. The Home Of Golf, where The Open Championship means so
much more when it is won here.
The Old Course is reasonably priced at £130 ($280) in
high season
and around £90 ($200) in low season, with some great deals for midweek
stop overs including golf. Short change for playing the most famous
golf course in the world at The Home Of Golf.
