Pinehurst Golf Course
No. 2 Course
Pinehurst Golf Course No. 2 is the most recognized golf
course on the Pinehurst estate and most definitely ranks as one of the
top 100 golf courses in the world.
The Donald Ross designed Pinehurst golf course was
completed in 1907 and has hosted a great many prestigious golf
tournaments including a Ryder Cup in 1951 with the United State
victorious that year. Also the PGA Championship.

1st hole Pinehurst
No2
Pinehurst No 2 has also hosted the US Open twice, in
1999 won by the late great and flamboyant Payne Stewart, and again in
2005 won by Micheal Campbell from New Zealand. Pinehurst No 2 is also
scheduled to host the US Open again in 2014.

5th hole Pinehurst No2
Pinehurst Golf Course No 2 has notoriously quick greens,
which are relatively small, so difficult to hit, and also difficult to
hold because of the dome shape designs, hazards for putting also! Not
that Payne Stewart had much trouble as he holed a magnificent putt on
the final hole to win the US Open in 1999.

17th hole Pinehurst
No2
The fairways at
Pinehurst are wide and generous, in fact Pinehurst does not have any
significant signature holes like the 7th
hole at Pebble Beach. Pinehurst difficultly is from 50 yards
in. Pinehurst is one of those courses where you think you have shot a
73, and the fact is you shot anything from 85 to 110!!
The small domed shape
greens can turn the most mentally tough golfer to a quivering wreck in
no time.
