The face and grooves are milled to conform to the recent USGA groove ruling allowing these wedges to be played on the 2010 PGA Tour. The combination of the super thin face, TPE gel and new grooves help the Tour Black deliver exceptional feel and remarkable feedback. The process is unique in that it involves the deposition of a very hard ceramic and diamond-like carbon coating via a vacuum-cure process. The lob wedge can be used anywhere on the golf course, but is mainly used in cases where you would want great hight in order to stop the ball quickly on the ground. The lob wedge can be used for getting out of a bunker, although is of great use for getting over obstacles, perhaps a staked tree between you and the green. The amount of bounce usually dictates it's primary use, lob wedges with low bounce can be used on firmer lies, where as those with more bounce can be used in bunkers, and from the rough.

Bob Burns 4 in 1 Wedge

Bob Burns 4 in 1 Wedge

Bob Burns 4 in 1 Wedge Are you one of those golfers say a mid- to high-handicapper who carries but two wedges in your bag, a standard pitching wedge and a conventional sand wedge”and who can see no good reason for carrying more than two and yet who finds one or another of those new lob wedge increasingly catching your attention, and briefly unsettling your otherwise sensible two-wedge mind? Do you find yourself thinking now and then that one of those very highly-lofted, deep-soled wedges, would sure make it easier to get out of sand traps and steep-sided bunkers or to loft a shot over water, or from thick, greenside grass or to play over a high mound when you haven't got much green to work with? If you're one of those basically sensible, but occasionally wavering, two-wedge golfers The Bob Wedge may well be the second wedge you need a wedge designed specifically to perform the functions both of a good  sand wedge and of one or another of those lob wedge you sometimes wish you had. Dramatically different from all but a very few other highly lofted wedges on the market, The Bob, as we have come to call it, is a kind of 4-in-1 problem-solver for the average golfer. The most notable features of The Bob's distinctive design and its problem-solving versatility are found on the unusually contoured flange of its sole. Like any other finely-tuned sand wedge, The Bob features the fairly sharp leading edge that is desirable for buried lies in sand and for touchy chips and pitches around the green; but to the rear of that leading edge, where on a conventional sand wedge you find a fairly hefty, rounded or convex surface, you'll find instead a concave surface, a kind of trough or valley that widens from heel to toe, and whose rearward side slopes toward the trailing edge of the sole, creating what appears to be almost a secondary leading edge . The result of this distinctive sole is a wedge a single wedge that will enable you to nip or pinch those delicate shots around the green or to drive your ball out of upslope, fried eggs in sand even as it allows you perhaps even encourages you to make the kinds of shots a golfer most often seeks with a lob wedge. In technical terms, we speak of The Bob Wedge as having a biased, offset, variable degree of bounce and a coordinately variable degree of loft each dependent on the extent to which the clubface is opened or laid flat at address.  What you have then is truly versatile lob wedge.

Eidolon V-Sole Wedge

Eidolon V-Sole Wedge

Eidolon V-Sole Wedges -- The Image of An Ideal Eidolon Wedges are precision cast of mild 8620 carbon steel. It's been the favored material for wedges for two decades because it delivers great feel. Then the faces are computer-milled to exact flatness yes, it's very important on a wedge , and the scoring lines are machined so they are perfect, too. Finally, the head is satin polished to prevent glare and plated -- first with two layers of nickel for a soft surface feel, and then chrome so that it won't rust. Other companies simply put a stiff iron shaft in their wedges, and give you one flex option, Eidolon uses the highly acclaimed Rifle Spinner wedge shaft from Precision. It's been specially designed for wedges, and produces more spin, softer feel and better trajectory control than any other shaft. A great player once said "a wedge's heart is in its sole", so look closely at the Eidolon wedges. EIDOLON V-SOLE wedges are built on patented sole technology that allows the use of TWO bounce angles on each wedge. The result is that you get the maximum amount of versatility when you face a difficult shot. This technology completely re-invents the way wedges should be made. Called V-SOLE because it looks like a V! . V also stands for versatility - the one thing your wedges have to deliver. So, in contrast to Cleveland, Titleist, Nike and others, Eidolon's patented approach to wedge design incorporates TWO distinct bounce angles in the sole of each model. And that delivers an unmatched level of scoring versatility.  Everyone has always called the 56 degree wedge the "sand" wedge, but in today's game . . . and with V-SOLE technology . . . it's so much more that that. This club will quickly become your "go to" club when the chips are down.

A word of warning, executing a lob shot with a lob wedge is extremely difficult! The pros can literally "throw" the ball in the air from the edge of the green Phil Mickelson is a master at this type of shot. High handicappers attempt it at your peril! It is easy to catch the ball thin with the bounce on the underneath of the lob wedge, and thin the ball of into the distance. Unless you have to go over an obstacle, stick to a chip and run with a less lofted club, or even use the putter if your around the green.

We hope you find a lob wedge to your liking, a lob wedge as with all wedges is a personal thing, like choosing a putter.

You need to feel comfortable with your lob wedge and all your wedges in order to give yourself more chances of making birdie!
