Why Golf Fitness Will Help Lower Your Scores
There is more to playing a round of golf than just
hitting a ball as, in actual fact, it does involve a lot of physical
exertion as well as the mental side to the game.
There are several things you should look at doing both
before you play as well as during the round so these are some basic
golf tips on golf fitness to get you around those eighteen
holes.
One of the key things to do are a series of stretches
and it does mean more than the one you will commonly see where you put
your club behind your back and sway from side to side. You must
remember that so many muscles are going to be getting a real work out
so they need to be warmed up just like you would warm up before you go
out running.
By stretching, you will lower the chances of you picking
up any injuries whilst playing as your muscles will be feeling loose
meaning there should be no strains or pulls. In order to remain supple
it is also a good idea to have a daily stretching routine even when you
are not playing as it will mean the muscles will be in top condition
and this can actually help your game.
It
does this because when your muscles are loose you
will strike the ball better as you will be aware that when you are
tense your swing, and the control you have, tends to leave you. It has
been shown that your swing speed will increase and you will have a
tendency to strike the ball with the middle of the club more often as
well.
The stretches need to focus on your entire body and not
just your back and shoulders with the best exercises being chest
stretches, shoulder twists, and side bends.
Work on your hips, as obviously you will turn them in
your shot as well as your legs, to prevent any pulls so overall look at
lunges, hip rotations and leg swings for this area.
Aside from stretches your golf fitness also has to take
into account things such as staying hydrated as well as maintaining
your energy levels. You must think about the distance you will be
walking and if you do not do this your game will suffer as
concentration levels drop when even slightly drained or
dehydrated.
Make sure you have enough liquid with you and this does
not have to mean special drinks as even just water will be enough. With
regards to nutrition look at things such as bananas or energy bars as
they are full of various nutrients that will help your body to keep on
going during the round without making you feel full which would then
have an impact on your game.
So when it comes to golf fitness those are the main
things you need to focus on and by doing so you will actually see a
difference to your game.
It does not actually take too much but when you see your
scores dropping and you are hitting the ball better and further you
will see the advantage of looking after your golf fitness.
