Cypress Point
Pebble Beach California
Cypress Point is another jewel in the crown at Pebble
Beach California. Cypress Point club is a private golf club,
and when I say private I mean private! Only the chosen few get to play
on this course, with only 250 members, apparently J.F. Kennedy was once
refused entry the the restaurant.
Cypress Point golf course was designed by the renowned
golf course designer Alister MacKenzie, and stretches along
the Pacific Ocean, with a 219 yard par 3 which actually plays over the
ocean and is considered the best golf hole in the world.

Eighteenth hole
Cypress Point
Cypress Point was the scene for what is nowadays talked
about as "The Match" one of the greatest golf matches ever played in
1956. A four-ball better-ball private match between 2 leading amateur
golfers, Ken Venturi & Harvie Ward, and 2 of the greatest
golfers to have graced the Cypress Point golf course, Ben Hogan and
Byron Nelson. All players shot magnificent scores with Ben Hogan
shooting a course record 63 which still stands today, and in doing so
won the match. "The Match" is now a classic golf book by Mark Frost.
Cypress Point is a heavenly course which has sometimes
been described as "The Holy Grail" of golf, all the holes are different
and offer a real challenge. Perhaps the biggest challenge is getting
on the golf course!
