Best Shot I've Ever Seen

by Larry Cook National Accounts Co-ordinator Siemens

My father was playing in a senior tour event and I was caddying for him. Now I have seen my father hit many great shots and he has shot his age 78 times since he turned 62 with 13 hole-in-ones to his name. He is now 71 and it seems to get easier each year. He hit his tee ball on the ninth hole par 4 at Plantation Golf Club and was right behind a tree about 15 feet. The tree was a fairly small 2 year old tree that had a fork in it about 5 feet off the ground about 12 inches wide.

I proceeded to suggest that he go around the tree with a low punch hook to just make it on the green anywhere, and just about dropped his bag when he said I think I am going through the fork of the tree. I stood there and watched him select his club and when he hit his ball it split the fork in that tree right down the middle and ended up 8 feet from the leaving him a putt for birdie. The best shot I EVER saw! The guts to stay down and pull that shot off in tournament pressure was AWESOME! Just one of his many trophies in the game.
